Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry the Hon. Dr Mike Kelly AM MP. Barbara's award ambition is to implement a pilot education program empowering aspiring rural and regional women leaders with a better understanding of political process and government decision making, giving them a stronger, more effective voice for rural industries and regional communities.

The Australian Government is continuing to demonstrate its support for women and young people in rural and regional Australia by today announcing the successful applicants for funding through the third round of the Recognising Women Farmers and Next Gen Farmers grants. The Recognising Women Farmers and Next Gen Farmers grants is offering up to $50,000 for activities that help create, support and promote women and young leaders in rural and regional Australia. Dr Kelly said the latest funding is in response to the continuing high levels of interest from the primary industries sector over the previous rounds of Recognising Women Farmers and Next Gen Farmers, and the benefits that Community Networks and Capacity Building projects have delivered for rural industries and communities.

The Australian Government established the Institute in 2009 as a central point for knowledge sharing and to drive the deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology internationally. The Institute facilitates this process as well as providing direct support for a number of key demonstration projects. With his extensive experience in the energy sector and senior government policy roles Mr Page has first hand knowledge of the challenges and the skills and expertise to lead the Institute through what I believe is a very important phase for CCS.
