World class, home-grown solar research received a boost today, with the Australian Government investing close to $12 million across ten solar power technology projects to help grow Australia's renewable energy base. Funded from the Australian Solar Institute's (ASI) Round 3 grants program, the projects will focus on developing concentrating solar power technologies. From a CSIRO project looking at how to reduce peak electricity grid demand by turning on a guaranteed solar driven air conditioner rather than a conventional air conditioner, to a trial by Chromasun Pty Ltd of an advanced rooftop product to simultaneously provide electricity and hot waterthe projects reflect Australia's excellent track record in developing game-changing solar technology.
